For Finance leaders

Know what the HR budget will actually buy.

You are being asked to approve a hire, a service fee or an HR system project. Before comparing the numbers, you need to know what each option will do—and what your team will still carry. We can help you separate those pieces.

The outcome for Finance leaders

Make the HR investment legible: what is covered, what stays inside the business, and which costs belong to a separate systems project.

What may be happening now

  • You are comparing an internal HR hire with managed or hybrid support, but the proposals cover different work.
  • Finance is coordinating payroll inputs, employee changes or HR administration because ownership is unclear.
  • An HRIS rollout or improvement project needs a budget, but migration, testing and ongoing administration are still undefined.

01 / Managed HR for Finance leaders

Know what an ongoing HR fee would actually cover.

Managed HR can take recurring administration off Finance and leadership, but only if the task list, volume, approval points and exceptions are defined. Start with the work Finance is already coordinating, not a generic headcount ratio.

What that can mean in your role

  • Map onboarding, employee changes and recurring inquiries by volume and current owner.
  • Separate coordination from payroll authorization, employment decisions and policy approval.
  • Review the service scope against retained internal time so the comparison with a hire is fair.

02 / HRIS services for Finance leaders

Put the full HRIS workstream into the business case.

A software subscription does not account for data preparation, configuration, testing, training or the administrator who will own the system later. We can scope implementation or optimization as a separate project with named internal decision makers.

A new platform or rollout

HRIS implementation

If you are buying or rolling out a platform, identify the modules, source data, migration decisions, test owners and one-time work before approving a delivery budget.

A live system that needs work

HRIS optimization

If the platform is live, rank the manual workarounds and reporting gaps by business impact; fund a defined first set of changes rather than an open-ended backlog.

Where responsibilities land

The work FlexiHire could own. The decisions your team keeps.

Managed HR covers an agreed recurring operating scope. HRIS implementation and optimization address defined system workstreams. FlexiHire helps make that distinction explicit so you can evaluate each engagement on its own terms.

In practice

Example decision: hire, managed support or a hybrid team?

Start with the same task inventory for all three options. Add compensation and employer burden for an internal hire; service fees and retained employee time for managed support; and both sets of responsibilities for a hybrid model. Then separate tools, hiring costs and one-time setup. A lower monthly figure is only meaningful if the coverage and capacity are comparable.

A useful starting point

Bring the assumptions behind the approval.

No email is needed to use the planning resource.

  • The recurring HR work Finance or managers currently absorb, and who would still need to approve it.
  • Your own compensation, service-fee and retained-capacity assumptions, with one-time costs listed separately.
  • Any HRIS project scope, software costs, proposed workflows and unresolved migration or testing responsibilities.

What the conversation can produce

Use the discussion to shape a scope-and-assumptions brief: recurring work, project work, retained responsibilities, exclusions and the decisions needed before pricing. No assumed service fee or calculator result is a FlexiHire quote.

Questions from Finance leaders

Questions worth asking.

Can we compare managed support with an internal hire?

Yes. Begin with equivalent responsibilities and realistic capacity. Our calculator uses your inputs for internal, managed and hybrid scenarios, showing normalized monthly cost and first-year outlay separately.

Does time released from Finance count as cash savings?

Not automatically. Time no longer spent coordinating HR is a capacity benefit. Whether it changes actual expenditure depends on your staffing and spending decisions.

Can HRIS work be scoped separately from ongoing HR?

Yes. Define the implementation or optimization workstream, acceptance checks and handoff independently. Ongoing administration is a separate responsibility to agree.

Is payroll processing included in managed HR?

Only work expressly included in an agreed scope is covered. Payroll coordination, processing authority, tax advice and statutory responsibilities need to be distinguished.
